Evidently, JoomlaLMS does NOT support the SEF features of the Joomla core?

Or am I missing something? If this is true, when do you plan to be able to support those features? This makes it VERY difficult to use SEO strategies with this component installed.

Why do you think so?
JoomlaLMS is worked under the Joomla SEF mode.
In the old versions there was some issues related to the compatibility with 3pd SEF components.
Note, Search engines are unable to access any course content - it will not be indexed. Just check how JoomlaLMS woks if user is not logged in. Search engine will index only course names decriptions.

Hi Den, -- before I forget, I must say I am very happy with your LMS overall!

We tried to turn on SEF/SEO core components, but when we did, the LMS links began giving 404 errors. I could still see the LMS in the backend, but from the frontend, only 404s.

We turned SEF off, and all was well.

We currently have Joomla v1.5.6 installed with JACL. We have no 3rd party installs for SEF, so I don't know what could be the problem. If you want to experiment with this, I must ask that we do this after hours, 8pm to 8am (GMT -5), or at least when we are sure no clients are on the site. I believe you and/or Dmitry have our login information, although the ftp info has changed. Please let me know what you need. Be aware we are about to upgrade to 1.5.7 in the next few days.

Thanks to the staff for quick replies and help offered. One issue down, one to go...

We tried again to turn on SEF. Everything worked except the LMS. Then we realized the links to the LMS might be the problem. We use two menu links to get to the LMS on our site. Both links seemed to go nowhere (and did return 404 errors - page not found).

We reset one menu item to JoomlaLMS component link, and it appeared to not change in the Edit Menu Item link: index.php?option=com_joomla_lms However, after we Saved that edited link, the link was evidently updated in the database, and now it works! We repeated the process for the second link, and they now both work -- the LMS is up. However...

I go in and start any course I am enrolled in. First screen in Learning Path comes up fine. Click Start -- nothing, just a spinning cursor. It never loads. If we turn OFF SEF, it works immediately. I have sent login info via email.

Ok, per your suggestions, we tried it without the 3rd switch: Add suffix to URLs -- set to No.
All seems to work, at least for my machines.

For now, it seems we can run without the URL suffix. But for SEO purposes, I don't want to change that again.

Thanks,
Ernie

Yes, you shouldn't change this option in the future to avoid generating of duplicate links in the search results.
