Media files?

Hi there,

I think I understand right that the flash server is for video conferencing but I don't seem to see in the demo how to embed video eg quick time or flash files as part of a course

It looks to me that all media - images, audio, flash, video, podcast are all attached as downloads.

Have I got that wrong?

I guess I am really asking can I embed the media file types listed above in a learning path as part of a course. I would like to be able to do this.

You can upload all the necessary files via "Documents" tool (and then add them to the Learning Paths)

Hi there thanks for prompt reply

I had found the tutorials really helpful in how to add a document

It was embedding flash and other media files that I wanted to do.

I see now that the file will play on the website when added the way you describe

I guess - am I right? - that if enabled you could also embed a media file in the normal joomla way through the html editor window.

Is there any draw back to doing it that way?

Hi Fiona,

Yes, you can also add media files via editor, but you can only to this on the description pages (LearningPath, chapter, step descriptions) - basically, there are no drawbacks or advantages in either ways, it's all about how you wish to arrange your data presentation - try creating two different LearningPaths with different ways of adding the content, view them as a student and choose what suits you best.
