The LMS pre defined roles. We do not use the term 'teacher' instead we use facilitator. Similarly we do not use the term 'CEO'. Can we remove the pre defined roles or change their names?
Yes, but please note - renaming roles or changing their permissions is allowed only in JoomlaLMS Professional edition.

Ok, will any of the low cost hosted services enable us to rename the roles?

However, the terminology "teacher" and "CEO" is more of a backend issue, than front end.
So it should be okay, even if you use the standard version of JoomlaLMS.
Use Joomla to introduce your terminology.
Example:
You can introduce your facilitators with Joomla contact and a menue point "Facilitators"
You can describe the "CEOs" with your own terminology in a standard article.
Ok, will any of the low cost hosted services enable us to rename the roles?
In addition to the solution provided by Andreas: the answer to this question is no, it doesn't depend on your hosting, these titles are hard-coded in JoomlaLMS, and only PRO edition of JoomlaLMS has open source code.

Sue, if you speak of hardcoded (encrypted in Standard), it proves my point ;) Because only the backend language terms are hardcoded. Front end language is (and needs to be) in languages files - which obviously are not encrypted.
