As an IT director for a small company, I've been charged with finding a LMS that will support our internal training efforts. I've demoed a number of products and find JoomlaLMS to be quite feature rich. Add in the VERY low cost compared to other solutions, and its something we as a company are quite inerested in.

I do have a demo site up and running, and have installed the trial version. And while yes, I can watch the demos and can get something up and running, some pre-implementation support would really be great. Also, the thought of trying to train our educators on setting up courses is quite daunting.

I looked at the US based resellers, but it doesn't really look like any offer this sort of thing. Basically, a "quick-start" for site setup and implementation once its installed. Am I missing something? Or has everyone else just learned by diving in?

Needs are very different....

But here are some pointers from my experience:

First of all: teachers only deal with the front end. You can make the frontend for teachers less complicated by turning off options they don't need for their course - the fewer buttons, the easier for inexperienced teachers (once they get the hang of it.... they will be ready for more).

You are right, the documentation is not the best in the world, but there are some tutorials at http://www.joomlalms.com/tutorials/

As i suppose , you should go with your office demands and should must support the internal training support for better guidance of your trainee staff.
Somethings need's may show variability and you must have to fit according it.

You might even use an LMS to teach your staff ;-)
