Dear Helga

We are going to install Linux CentOS 5.5 to the JoomlaLMS server.
The size of the hard disk is 1TB (1000GB).

Question:
How many partitions we should have, their sizes and in which partition to install / store the following
1. Linux CentOS
2. JoomlaLMS
3. 100 Courses (Each course is about 1 GB beacuse of multimedia)
4. LMS Backup

For optimum performance. Any other advice or suggestion from support team in this regard is most welcome.

Tnaks & best regards

We suggest the following configuration:
1. Linux CentOS (< 50 Gb)
2. Webserver 'home' directory (~40-50% of entire disk; where Joomla, JoomlaLMS and all courses will be located)
3. partition for '/var' directory (optional, this partition will contain mySQL 'data' folder, it is recommended to keep it separately; usually it requires no more than 15Gb)
4. partition for '/usr' (optional; usually it requires no more than 15Gb)
5. backups partition. If you keep monthly/weekly/daily backups - it is recommended to set its size the same as '/home' or even more; we recommend using server-side backups to backup entire account (files together with database and other system files to have a possibility to quickly restore them; WHM has such features) instead of using JoomlaLMS backups.
x. other Linux-specific partitions
