Different classes/user groups on the same course

Is ti possible to have two classes taking the same course, but with different time schedules? Or do I have to copy the course?

Unfortunately for one course it is only possible to set certain start/end time - so if you need different time for different groups you will need to create two courses. Perhaps it will be convenient for you to create a course template of the original course at back-end (Components->JoomlaLMS->Courses management->Course templates) and then create the second course out of this template at front-end (Courses List -> Import a course).

Creating two courses is the obvious solution for scenario you describe - but uses a lot of resources on your server.

What surprizes me is how often distance learning is tied into a strict time frame.... ;-)

If I think university, you would start at the beginning of a semester, and finnish the course at the end of a semester.

You may then restart the course by changing the date.

I would have thought, having closed cohorts with overlapping times (cohort 1 - January to June, cohort 2 March to September) are a very rare exception (for which you would duplicate the course).

Having said that, in my view JoomlaLMS works best as a learning resource centre, providing "buffet style" learning tools, rather than strict sequential schedules of doing things.... But - I realize, there are different settings.
