Failed to move uploaded file to /media directory.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Well it seems the new com_joomla_lms.zip is about 100k over the 2m limit set by the default php.ini.

1. change the php upload setting in the php.ini or

2. upload the unziped file to you ftp in this folder
/###/###/###/administrator/components/com_installer/component

if you unzip folder is called com_joomla_lms then you would enter
/###/###/###/administrator/components/com_installer/component/com_joomla_lms

in component install > Install from directory after all files have been uploaded via FTP.

If you had a copy of joomlaLMS already installed. Make sure you have delete referance to it in both the components folder and the administrator/components folder.

Good luck

I tried option 2 and I'm getting the following on install:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $end in E:\Inetpub\joomla\administrator\components\com_joo mla_lms\admin.joomla_lms.html.php on line 4801

Any ideas?

I had the same problem as triconex. I tried ftp-ing the component and installing it from the directory but it comes up with a message saying it can't find the directory even though I put /com_joomla_lms at the end of the file path - this happened also when I tried to install the stable version as well as the later demo version - what do I do now?

Installation file not found:
blah/blah/blah/httpdocs/test_site/administrator/components/com_installer/component

i'm using an intel macbook pro - maybe that's the problem...

generated errors on upload as package, i don't even remember... i was sure it was my fault.

then tried to unpack on the server: here's the sort of thing i saw over and over again:

checkdir error: com_joomla_lms/includes exists but is not directory
unable to process com_joomla_lms/includes/conference/room_enter.swf.

zillions (a mathematical term) of such line errors

1.0.3 trial would not unzip locally with any normal tools, they either crashed or reported errors. (while 1.0.2 unzipped perfectly with any tool.)

finally, one prog unarced the lot, and i uploaded to server. attempted to install from that directory. was swiftly informed that there was no index.html file in the distro, and there wasn't. uploaded the one in the 1.0.2 at the root level (after trying to nuke the admin and component rubbish that had been created so far - fonts and .swfs wouldn't delete - renamed the directories). by name at least, a clean field to play in. started again from scratch on the install from an unpacked dir on the server. got this right away: The file /var/www/vhosts/privacy.com/subdomains/learning/httpdocs/ administrator/components/com_joomla_lms/admin.joomla_lms.php is corrupted.

any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Installation file not found:
blah/blah/blah/httpdocs/test_site/administrator/ components/com_installer/component
Could you specify what file is not found. If the 'index.html', then you should redownload 1.0.3 installation package and reinstall it again.
If component directory not found (or something else), please make sure that installation path is correct.
For more information you can use our online documentation - Administrator section -> Installation&Configuration - step 6 (manual installation).

For version 1.0.2 we are uses manually method of zipping customers packages under Windows OS. With 1.0.3 release we have many customers and uses authomated packaging method on the Linux server. I think that your local ARC tool not support our zipping mathod.

Please explain in more details how you are trying to unpack package under the server. Do you using special utilities for it?
Or it is Joomla installer fails? What error messages do you get?
In few days we will develop JoomlaLMS installation helper, which will automatically unzip your package on FTP and prepare folder for 'Joomla component manual installation' procedure.

P.S The issue of error message about 'file corrupting' is bad unpacking of the package.

thanks!

worked perfectly for unpacking the joomlalms package for me. joomla still complained that there was no index.html in the install folder (directory, if you prefer). locally in mamp on my mac, i added the 1.0.2 package index page and also stuck the ppc ioncube folder in for good measure (not sure this was necessary, but since they had installers based on processor, seemed like it might be. for reasons too lengthy to go into, i'm running a ppc mamp under rosetta...)

this got me a beautiful joomlalms welcome page in my local joomla, most everything was working - menus, etc., but i couldn't create courses (no 'new' button), could not seem to create any kind of user. i've probably missed something important about hooking the back end to the front, but i'm off to do a fresh install of everything on the 'real' server now that you've provided this great unpacking tool.

cheers, and thanks again!

Only teachers can create new courses.
All System usermanagement functions are located under BackEnd.
To create new teacher(give teacher rights for existent Joomla user) you should go to BackEnd -> Conponetns -> JoomlaLMS -> User Management.

Hello,
sometimes the most obvious is overlooked.... I am not sure, whether this is where your problem is, but new courses are not created at the backend, but at the front end...

den, andreas -

thanks for the suggestions. i'm getting closer, but still haven't actually seen anything that would actually qualify as a front end for joomlalms.

i think my local installation (on the mac) may be slightly broken, and my attempts to install on the production server are thwarted right now by what appears to be an ioncube problem: "The file /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/subdomains/training/
httpdocs/administrator/components/com_joomla_lms/admin.joomla_lms.php is corrupted."

(i used the slightly modified version of the installation helper to install the component the last time, and didn't get any complaints about a missing index.html.)

i'll try to get the ioncube problem sorted out and concentrate on testing there as that would be the production environment.

thanks again!

actually, turns out the installation on my mac is probably fine. once i'd created some users in my empty joomla, and spotted dimiurg's thread elsewhere about installing the joomlalms component as a menu item, things began to fall into place - seemed to have been working blind up until then!

still have the corrupted file problem on the production server. used the ioncube-loader-helper, which reported - among other things -
"Run-Time Loading Installation Instructions
Testing Server
Results
An ionCube Loader is already installed and run-time loading is unnecessary. Encoded files should load without problems.
Instructions
If you have problems running encoded files, make sure that you select binary mode if using FTP. If unpacking files with WinZIP you must also disable the 'TAR Smart CR/LF conversion' feature."
guess i need to poke around and look for line-ending problems and so forth. i believe this was unpacked by your latest helper script.

thanks,

We are using Ioncube Encoder 6.5, which needs Loader version 3.1 or greater as it has new security features that are not known about by the older Loaders. Loaders < 3.0 report newer files as corrupted, which isn't strictly correct but couldn't be avoided. Loader 3.0 would say that a newer Loader was required.

If you use runtime ioncube loader (if you are upload it manually via FTP) please update it. If ioncube Loader is in the php.ini file (setup by ISP),
so it needs to be replaced there, make a request to your ISP.

yes, the isp was using ioncube 2.5. i couldn't get substantial help from the isp, but the basic ioncube installation instructions were good. however, the ioncube version numbers are not reflected in the loader filenames, just the target versions of php. fortunately, i stumbled across emir sakic's great script, sef_advance_tester, which let me determine ioncube version.

meanwhile, since the ioncube filenames also don't reflect whether the code is 32- or 64-bit, i had inadvertently uploaded the 64- to my 32-bit server. finally got that sorted out this morning, and joomlalms seems to be running fine now, added a user, assigned the user as a teacher, but...

... the homepage display says '
This function temporary unavailable' and the config says in bold red that the demo expired 05 August 2007. is this symptomatic of the demo truly expiring, or have i got something else wrong?

Admin BackEnd -> JoomlaLMS -> Configuration -> Set 'JLMS Online' to 'yes'.

...another foolish error on my part. i knew that once, of course, from when i set joomlalms up on my mac. then the ioncube difficulties...

den,

just thought i'd do a bit of followup. thanks to your fabulous support, everything is working fine, in spite of the lack of direct, active support from the hosting company.

it took a few brief moments to create a learning path to which i attached an articulate quizmaker quiz as a scorm object. perfect, instant! at this point, it's easy to see what polished, sophisticated software your lms is.

one question: my joomla template (developed ages ago under mambo) has no idea how wide the articulate object is, although the scorm height setting worked precisely. i'd really like to have the width picked up, too. have i missed something again? (yes, of course, it's easy to push the template as wide as needed, but then it's no longer elastic...)

anyway, thanks, your work is greatly appreciated - this is lovely software!!!

SCORM object i sloaded in the inline frame and width of the frame is independent of the width of inside SCORM object. Width of the inline frame is not configurable, it is always 100% and takes all allowed template space.

But if you have some skills, try to edit your database - open the table #__lms_n_scorm and edit the record associated with your SCORM package (edit the 'width' field and remember that it is percents, not a pixels).
