Hi folks,
Can you provide an option for us to use Fireboard instead of SMF? We never got the SMF integration working quite right any way.
Just like JoomlaLMS was dream come true for an integrated LMS, Fireboard has been the same for an integrated forums. Definitely the best Joomla native forum available.
Nice forum! But not a stable release.

So, does this mean SMF will continue to be our only option?
It's only a matter of time before they have a stable release and we will prefer to use this as our forum.

Me too....I have Fireboard working well. Looks like it is going to be the way to go as it is fully integrated and seems to be picking up quite a following already.

Me too ... I never really liked SMF, and recently dumped JoomlaBoard in favor of Fireboard. Fireboard is much more "high-speed" in many, many ways.
Integration should be easy, or just add it as a choice.
Not trying to make more work for you, sorry.
The main used option of SMF is 'UserGroup management'. In SMF we can manage access to course boards by enrolled users. In other words only enrolled into course users can see posts in course forum.
What we need to do for FireBoard integration:
We should create many (in some cases VERY many) Joomla usergroups for each usergroup of each course and set privileges for forum boards by these groups. This modification need many changes in LMS user management.
And in some cases this modification will confuse site administrators (they will see very big list of Joomla usergroups in Joomla usermanagement)
