Just bought the LMS. I installed it and installed SMF and have a few n00b questions. I"ve done some searches and reviewed the tutorials, but am missing something essential here.

Right now I have a joomla and have done a component link to joomlaLMS. It takes me to a course listing.

I installed the joomlaLMS menu module, and it shows up on the homepage with just a module title, no options under it.

I added a user to the super_user group, still nothing shows up under the joomlaLMS menu module.

I installed SMF and enabled forum plugin, with the path to the forum plugin set correctly in the LMS configuration.

Q: How do I get the JoomlaLMS homepage to show up?
Q: What is the JoomlaLMS Menu module for? It seems blank
Q: JoomlaLMS is bridged (I am guessing) to SMF, how can I link to it from my regular Joomla Site?

Thanks so much for helping here, I spent all morning trying to get these things working, and am drawing some blanks...

Q: How do I get the JoomlaLMS homepage to show up?

Create menu item and link it to the JoomlaLMS component. If logged in user is enrolled/teaching any courses then LMs homepage will be visible, else - list of the courses.

Q: What is the JoomlaLMS Menu module for? It seems blank

Publish this module only for JoomlaLMS menu item. It dublicates JoomlaLMS top menu.

Q: JoomlaLMS is bridged (I am guessing) to SMF, how can I link to it from my regular Joomla Site?

If you are using SMF as closed from for JoomlaLMS (and you setup it as plugin at JoomlaLMS configuration), then JoomlaLMS courses and SMF wil be bridged and you can enter to the forum by clicking 'forum' icon at the course top menu (if forum is enabled for the course).

If you want to use SMF as opened forum for your site, don't configure it as plugin for JoomlaLMS. Create Joomla menu item wrapper and link it to the forum. Also you can use Joomla-SMF bridge (i.e. from elearningforce.biz) for synchronize/single-login Joomla/SMF users.

Ahh, thanks. I realized that I could not see the menu items because I published the module for all pages. Usually I can figure these things out with some experimentation.

I created a menu item and linked it to the LMS Component, and set it for all users. Then I told the lms menu module to only show up for that menu item. I also had to add myself to the teachers or super_user category, and the icons appear up top as expected. Things also started showing up when I had an actual course inside.

I'm loving the LMS so far! This is an important part of setup yet it's nowhere in the instructions.

Thanks for the SMF tips.
