Hi

Cant upload files in the dropbox or in the documents box. Chooseing more students at one time in the dropbox, im just told "Do not support upload of this type of file"..

Trying to upload to one student, it just says file not suppportet, even though the extension is in the file extensions list in the configuration. And then i get a long error message in the background. As soon as i push the pop up box, it goes back to Joomlalms. See attachemnt.

Tryed to upload a zip files with a lot of files for my students under "documents". And clicked the box saying that i was going to upload a .zip file. Same problem. "File not supported."

Ive been useing Joomlalms for quite a while, and i have to say, that every time im trying to do something out of the ordinary, eg. logging in and out, i usually end up here in the forum asking for help. I get the help i need, but I am really, really, really ... getting frustrated. I have to use this system for my students. Not wonder why Í cant upload files.

I have no idea where the failure is. My hosting partners, Joomlalms, or?? Im not feeling the success with this system that I ought to be feeling, and im slowly beginning to wonder wheter there are other possibilities, because of all this mess.

Basicly I need help with this. Asap. And some success with Joomlalms. Tomorrow I have to give my files to all the students on a CD and then they have to save it on their computers one by one. Thats really crappy.

Check your server configuration:
Go to administrator BackEnd -> System -> System info -> TAb 'PHP info'.
Make sure that directives 'post_max_size' and 'upload_max_filesize' are more than the size of uploaded file.

They are a lot larger. File size vary but I tried with some as low as 100 kb.

post_max_size 8M 8M

upload_max_filesize 52M 52M

When I try to upload a scorm packet, with the size of 40 mb Im shown a blank page after maybe 3 min. How can I correct that? Do i have to change post_max_size?

The both parameters (post_max_size and upload_max_filesize) are affect file uploads.
About 'File not supported' message
I've found a bug in 1.0.3 version. Configurable file extensions (at JoomlaLMS backend) are case-insensitive at the BackEnd, but case-sensitive at the FrontEnd. In this case you should rename all uploaded files to the lowercase letters (if extension at the BackEnd is added as lowercase).

Okay. So I have to change all files names to lowercase letters?

What about the scorm packet? I tried to upload it again today after the max upload size was increased to 150 mb. Same result. Cant upload - just presented with at blank page. My users are sending me mails about why they cant access the elearning material, and I tell them I do not know why.

So, what can I do?

Do you increase 'post_max_size' parameter?
There is another way to upload SCORMs.
Upload it to the 'media' folder in the root of your Joomla site. At creating new LearningPath(SCORM) select 'Choose a file uploaded into Joomla 'media' folder via FTP' option and enter the name of uploaded file.
If this way will show the same blank page, then we will need access to your site. To check zip packer, accessibility of temporary folders for packer, xml-rpc, xml parser settings, etc. All parameters which can affect SCORM uploading.

When I try to upload a zip file, it only tells me to choose at start file, eg. index.html. What is the meaning of that? Do I have to put a index.html file in the zipŽed folder?

There are many ways for uploading documents, etc.

1. You can upload documents into the 'documents tool'. You can choose any local file with extension listed in the JoomlaLMS configuration. Learners can download published documents later.

2. You can upload 'Zip package' into the 'documents tool'. 'Zip package' is a set of files (i.e. set of html files) and to extract it you should choose 'Upload zip file as CONTENT-package and extract it' option. After uploading it will be extracted and you will be able to choose startup file. 'Startup file' is a root file in the package (i.e. Package contains index.html and a set of images in it - you should choose index.html as a startup file)

3. If you want to upload zip file only. It will not be opened as content page and will be downloadable for learners, you should upload it without 'Upload zip file as CONTENT-package and extract it' option.

4. You can upload SCORM package (with .zip extension) under the 'Learning Paths' tool. It contents also will be extracted after uploading. You can publish such package in your authoring tool. There is a possibility to choose SCORM package uploaded into the 'media' folder via FTP. (as described in my previous post)

So. It doesnt work. right now im a very poor ambassador for Joomlalms.

I either meet a blank page, or if i upload via ftp. Im just told, when referring to my scorm packet that: "This file is not supported".

Luckily my users have only been waiting 1 week to access the scorm packets. Lucky me.

Im Open for ANY suggestions. I just have the time to try tons of things, only to discover that it doesnt work. If you need access, Ill give you all the access you need.

OK.
Can you provide access for me? (FTP + admin) - via PM.
Also point me to the SCORM file you've uploaded to the FTP. I will see at the problem more closely.

I have followed this thread and have a similar issue.

I am using the latest version 1.0.4 hosted on siteground.

When uploading large zip files of content, it seems to time out at random intervals and jumps back to course home page. In order to override my php upload settings, as per siteground instructions, I have added a php.ini file in the jlms/docs folder with the following contents:
max_upload_filesize = 300M
post_max_size = 300M

No change in response. Currently, I am trying to upload a file of 18M...no joy, after a few mins, it returns to home page, no file upload.

I have also uploaded a scorm .zip file to the media folder... when I then try to upload scorm file, I get the following:
Extension of this file not supported.

BTW, it would be great if the doc upload allowed for FTP upload like scorm... as you know http upload is not reliable at all.

I too can give you back end access if needed.

Help.

Check
Joomla BackEnd -> System _> System info -> 'PHP info' tab
check that max_upload_filesize and post_max_size are applied to local values.
Also try to increase (or disable == set to 0) values
max_execution_time
max_input_time

Den,
I am still having issues, I tried what you suggested. I found that my settings were more restrictive, so I took the advice of my provider (siteground) and added a php.ini file in the upload directory and every other directory I could think of (com_joomla_lms, com_joomla_lms/includes ) to overwrite the global php.ini settings. I added the php.ini file with the following settings
upload_max_filesize = 300M
post_max_size = 300M
max_execution_time = 3600
max_input_time = 3600

No joy still. It times out in about 5-10 mins and goes back to course home page…frustrating.

I have been able to upload SCORM files and also use FTP of SCORM. Had to ensure there were no periods in the SCORM filename, except the file extension (.zip). I would also like to use FTP to upload other large, none SCORM files. HTTP upload sucks, please add FTP ability.

Besides this issue, this program rocks, I am sure we will use it.

OK. Please provide access for me. (will be best to have FTP + Joomla admin).

You can use another trick for the big files:
Instead of big file you can upload a small with the same extension. The you can replace newly created document on your FTP (it located at the 'documents path', which was configured under JoomlaLMS configuration) with the big file.
