Could you please tell me if the cost of JoomlaLMS is determined by how many users we have (students and teachers). Or is it down to what version of LMS we might choose? Are there any ongoing licence fees or recurring annual costs?

The yearly license is based on the number of students.

It is important to note, that the number of students is not the number of registered Joomla users, but the actual number of users registered for one or more courses (each user is only counted once, even if he registers for several courses).

Thus it is possible to calculate the yearly cost fairly well... as well as receiving outstanding support and further development. :-)
