I work for a small company and have been put in charge of setting up our e-learning software. I am not the most skilled when it comes to servers and web hosting. I just have a couple of questions that would help me on my way with this.
1) We are hoping to provide web-i-nars, lesson's for people to use at their own pace, and the possibility of live chat or video conferencing. Is this possible with Joomlalms?
2) As said before, I'm not the best with hosting. Is it possible to have your site host? Or what are the advantages and disadvantages of hosting on you vs. our site?
3) What other software would be needed in order to get it up an running?
4) Are we able to make our lesson's available only through payment by users?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

1) We are hoping to provide web-i-nars, lesson's for people to use at their own pace, and the possibility of live chat or video conferencing. Is this possible with Joomlalms?
Yes, JoomlaLMS has online conferencing and chat facilities. Note, that only course teacher can participate in the conference using WebCam; learners can only talk without WebCams.
2) As said before, I'm not the best with hosting. Is it possible to have your site host? Or what are the advantages and disadvantages of hosting on you vs. our site?
Yes, we provide hosting possibility. For a small fee we can also install and configure Joomla! , lms, etc.
you can see pthe cost here (hosting as well):
http://www.joomlalms.com/buy_now/task,standart_edition/
If it is going to be on our host we will provide 100% compatibility with Joomla and optimal structure to achieve maximum LMS efficiency.
3) What other software would be needed in order to get it up an running?
Only WebHosting is needed for JoomlaLMS working. If you need online conferencing facilities you should buy FMS (Flash Media Server) services from us or from other FMS providers.
4) Are we able to make our lesson's available only through payment by users?
Yes, paid subscriptions to courses are available. But you can as well use free courses.

Don't forget to get some solid software for course creation! JoomlaLMS is just the framework so to speak. But you want to fill it with content.
Depending on the way you usually work, I would recommend WordForce to create SCORM (learning paths) from Word documents (text oriented).
If you are more into Powerpoint (i.e. more image oriented), PowerPointForce is an excellent tool to start.
More elaborate tools for authoring, like Captivate (Adobe) are not only much more expensive, they require some new learning. This can be overwhelming when you get into the "e-learning thing". ;-)
So I recommend to start simple, get some good results and then grow slowly, but steadily.
