Uploading large files to file manager

I have a file that is approx. 105MB that I need in the file manager. I can't upload it through the site because it keeps timing out. Too large I think.

Is there a way I can upload it via FTP and have it show up in the file manager?

Which file manager do you mean? Are you talking about JoomlaLMS course 'documents' tool?
If you are talking about Joomla BackEnd file manager, you can upload your files using FTP and they will be shown in it.
There is no possibility to upload files to JoomlaLMS 'documents' tool using FTP, but as an option you can upload them using FTP and provide the link to your learners.
Also you can try to upload a small file, find it on your FTP (check the path to the documents in the JoomlaLMS configuration) and replace it with the big one.
