Campus Announcement possible?

Hi,

Is it possible to set a campus-wide announcement, rather than individual course specific announcements? I tried to figure it out, but it seems that announcements are made from within specific courses.

Campus-wide announcements would be handy when I have to down the system for an upgrade or other maintenance. Plus I would not have redundant announcements for subscribers who are in multiple courses.

There are no 'system-wide' announcements in JoomlaLMS, but there are some workarounds for you:
1) If you want to send email notifications to all registered users - we suggest using special newsletter extensions for this.
2) If you want just to provide an 'on-site' notification to all students on your site - you can create new custom module in Joomla and publish it for JoomlaLMS pages.

I've already implemented the workaround with the custom html. That does not send out e-mails, and it is a shame to have to use other workarounds when JoomlaLMS e-mail functionality exists.

A campus-wide announcement capability would be nice tweak to see in the future.

Thank you for this suggestion, we will add this point to our roadmap for future developments.

You could create a general course that all your students are subscribed to automatically.

There are additional advantages to that:

1 - you can give an introductory Learningpath on how to use the e-learning plattform
2 - you could test the level of knowledge / ability in your subject areas
3 - if you charge for courses, this could be a free "teaser"

And yes, you can make announcements and emails campus wide.
