Course Action Button plugin

The Course Action Button plugin provides a possibility to insert a button into any page in JoomlaLMS (Course Home page is recommended) that will take a user to a Learning Path where they stopped at last time. The button changes from ‘start course’ to ‘continue course’ then to ‘course complete’ depending on where the user is at in the course. If the user accesses the course for the first time, the button reads ‘start course’ and takes the user to the first learning path, then it changes to ‘continue course’ and takes the user to the learning path where they stopped at, and when the user finishes the course, it changes to ‘course complete’ and takes the user to the Gradebook section where they can overview their results and print their certificates if any.

 

In order for this button to work in the course you need to install the plugin first. To install it do the following:

  1. Install the joomlalms_courseaction.zip plugin on your server. Enter the site Backend -> Extensions -> Extension manager and use the Browse button to find the plugin on your local computer and the Upload File and Install button to install the plugin.

  1. After the plugin is installed go to Extensions->Plug-in Manager, find JoomlaLMS CourseAction and publish the plugin.

  1. Enter the plugin to specify the path to the images used as buttons if necessary. By default buttons from JoomlaLMS online demo course are used.

  1. Click Save to save the changes . Click Close to exit without saving.

 

To use the course button in a course do the following:

  1. Make sure the plugin is installed and published in the Back-end of JoomlaLMS.
  2. Open the course you wish to add the course button to.
  3. Click the Edit button at the Course Home page.

  1. Add the following piece of code to any place in the course description: {jlms_courseaction}.

  1. The course button will appear at the Course Home page.

    2. Note: It is possible to add some minimum HTML formatting, eg. <br/><center>{jlms_courseaction}</center> or center the button with the help of embedded visual editor tools to make the button properly located on the page.
