Courses Management

The Courses management section allows a user to view and manage all courses that they administer and create course templates that is a course which is saved as a template which can be used for other courses creation. To pass to the Courses Management page, go to Courses management > Courses management in the left menu. As a result, all courses for which you act as Administrator will be displayed: courses list

To manage courses in the list, use the following icons at the top of the page:

Icon Name Description
edit icon Edit Allows a user to edit the selected course (to select a course, select a check box next to a corresponding entry in the list).
delete icon Delete Allows a user to delete the selected course (to select a course, select a check box next to a corresponding entry in the list).

 

Please note that the Courses Management form does not allow you to add courses. You can create courses only if you log into the learning system as a Teacher.

Tip: To provide better viewing representation, you can sort out the list of courses using the filter fields at the top and at the bottom of the page.
  • In the Display# field select the number of entries that should be displayed in the Courses list;
  • In the Course categories field select the category to which the courses should relate;
  • If the Category you chose has subcategories, another Course categories field will appear under the Course categories field.

Editing Courses

To edit a course:

  1. Go to Courses management > Courses management in the left menu.
  2. Select a check box next to a necessary course and click the Edit icon (edit icon) at the top of the page.
  3. Modify the properties of the course as described in Creating New Courses of the Teacher interface section.
  4. Click the Save icon (save icon) at the top of the page to save the changes or Cancel (cancel icon) to discard the changes.

In the administrative area there is a section related to course management. It's Categories.

Categories

You can add new course categories, edit them and delete. Besides this it's possible to define levels for categories using a drop down list on the top right.

To add courses categories do the following:

  1. Go to Configuration > Categories > Categories Management

        2.   Click on the New button (newadmin icon). The following form will open:

        3.   Enter the title for a new category.
        4.   Select a parent item for the category.
        5.   Select Yes if you want the category to be restricted, otherwise select No
        6.   Select a restricted group.
        7.   Click on Save to add a category or Cancel to discard.
 
To edit a category:
  1. Go to Configuration > Categories > Categories Management.
  2. Mark a check box corresponding an item you want to edit.
  3. Click on the Edit button (edit icon).
  4. Make necessary changes.
  5. Click on Save or Cancel to discard changes.
To delete a category:
 
  1. Go to Configuration > Categories > Categories Management.
  2. Mark a check box corresponding an item you want to delete.
  3. Click on the Remove button (delete icon).
Using the Configuration item in the Categories section you can manage the categories of different levels.
 

Courses Templates Creation

To work with Courses Templates go to  Courses management > Courses templates.

To manage courses templates you can use the following icons:

Icon Name Description
edit icon Edit Allows a user to edit the selected course template (to select a course template, select a check box next to a corresponding entry in the list).
newadmin icon New
Allows a user to create a new course template.
delete icon Remove
Allows a user to delete the selected course template (to select a course template, select a check box next to a corresponding entry in the list).

 

To create a course template:

  1. Go to Courses management > Courses templates in the left menu. You will see templates list.
  2. At the top menu click the New  icon (newadmin icon) and the following window will open:

        3.   Enter the title of a new template in the Template name text field. 
        4.   Select a course using which you want to create a template from the Course drop down list.  
        5.   Click on the Save button  (save icon) at the top menu to save your template otherwise click on Cancel (cancel icon).  
 
Courses Templates Editing
 
To edit a template:
 
  1. Go to Courses management > Courses management in the left menu.
  2. Select a check box next to a necessary course template and click the Edit icon (edit icon) at the top of the page.
  3. Modify the properties of the course template as described in Creating Courses Templates topic.
  4. Click on the Save button  (save icon) at the top menu to save changes otherwise click on Cancel (cancel icon). 
Courses Templates Deleting
 To delete a course template:
 
  1. Go to Courses management > Courses management in the left menu.
  2. Select a check box next to a necessary course template and click the Remove icon (delete icon) at the top of the page.
