Basic principles of course creation

Courses are created by a teacher in Front-end of JoomlaLMS.

There are three basic principles of course creation in JoomlaLMS but the first step is always the same: you need to create a course (click + button, enter name and description, and then click Save, after this you'll be able to fill your course with content).

1. Learning Paths principle

The principle of course creation is the following: first you create certain elements in the course (upload or create documents, quizzes, links etc.), and then add the already created items into Learning Paths. To create elements you need to use such tools as Documents, Quizzes, Links, SCORMs. Enter the necessary section, click on the 'Add an element'   icon, fill in the necessary fields and click 'Save'.

Then you can enter the Learning Path tool to create Learning path/s from the created elements.  Create a new Learning Path, enter it, click on the 'Add an element'   icon, select the necessary tab, find there previously created elements, check the boxes near them and click 'Save'. 

You can auto-redirect Students to the learning path if you wish (set when creating or editing a course).

2. Topics principle

The principle of course creation is the following: you create certain elements in the course (upload or create documents, quizzes, links etc.), and then add the already created items into Topics.  To create elements you need to use such tools as Documents, Quizzes, Links, SCORMs. Enter the necessary section, click on the 'Add an element'   icon, fill in the necessary fields and click 'Save'.

Then you can go to the course Home Page and add created elements to the Topic. Enter the Course Home Page, click the 'Add a Topic' icon, fill in the necessary fields and click 'Save'. After a Topic is created click on the 'Add elements'   icon, select the previously created elements that you wish to add to the topic and click 'Save'.

3. Combined principle

The principle of course creation is the following: you create certain elements in the course (upload or create documents, quizzes, links etc.). To create elements you need to use such tools as Documents, Quizzes, Links, SCORMs.  Enter the necessary section, click on the 'Add an element'   icon, fill in the necessary fields and click 'Save'.
Then you can add the already created items into Learning Paths. Create a new Learning Path, enter it, click on the 'Add an element'   icon, select the necessary tab, find there previously created elements, check the boxes near them and click 'Save'. 
Then you can go to the course Home Page, create Topics and add created Learning Paths to the Topics.  Enter the Course Home Page, click the 'Add a Topic' icon, fill in the necessary fields and click 'Save'. After a Topic is created click on the 'Add elements'   icon, select the previously created elements that you wish to add to the topic and click 'Save'.
